FAQs

Q: Where and how often do you rehearse?

A: We rehearse every Monday in school term time from 6.30pm to 8.30pm at Christchurch Infants School, Clarendon Road, Christchurch. In the week of the concert we often have an extra rehearsal on Wednesday.

Q: What sort of music do you perform?

A: We mainly perform classical choral works, often accompanied by an orchestra, at the magnificant Christchurch Priory. In the past few years our reportoire has ranged from works by Handel and Mozart to more modern pieces by Karl Jenkins and John Rutter.

Q: Do I have to audition?

A: You do not have to prepare something to sing in a formal audition but there is a very quick, informal singing test, often as part of a group.

Q: How much does choir membership cost?

A: Currently our subscription fees are £170 per year. You can pay this in two installments. If this would cause you financial difficulty then please speak to us. Under twenty-fives may join the choir for free.

Q: Can I hire my music copies?

A: Yes you can. We have two librarians who organise both music hire and music purchase. Hiring usually costs a couple of pounds per copy.

Q: Can I still participate in performances if I am unable to stand for very long?

A: We have members of the choir who have a disability, and we make provision for our choir members to participate in performances.
